The Colorado Mountain Club has been the answer for thousands
of outdoor oriented people since 1912.

The
Club is organized to bring together and unite the energy of lovers of the mountains of Colorado. The CMC is state wide organization with over 9000 members. The CMC consists of fifteen groups across the state of Colorado, with headquarters in Golden.

Pikes Peak Group
The Pikes Peak Group (PPG) has approximately 650 members. The club provides training which includes mountaineering oriented first-aid, leadership, winter mountaineering and basic mountaineering schools. Through planned trips with experienced leaders and instructors, members learn about and enjoy the alpine attractions of this region. Trips are planned to accommodate all age and skill levels; these activities include, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, cross country and downhill skiing, cycling, and any other out-of-doors activities members are interested in. Conservation and preservation of our natural resources and scenery are a high priority. The state organization offers additional courses which include high altitude mountaineering, telemarking and others. The CMC provides trips and treks throughout the world. We believe there is something for everyone.

Publications
An activity schedule for the state is published twice a year and lists activities throughout the year for both winter and summer. PPG members may participate in activities sponsored by any of the state groups. Officially sanctioned trips are led by leaders trained in mountain and first aid skills, and are covered by a state CMC insurance policy.

Trip Classification
Trips are classified A, B, C, D, E, and Technical; trip descriptions include distance and elevation gain. For example: an A trip may be a nature walk, a B or C trip will be longer and more difficult and could be a hike or an overnight backpack. A climb of some of the peaks would be considered a D climb, and certain routes up some of the peaks could be classified as dangerous E or technical.

Monthly Meetings
PPG monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month except in May, November and December. In May and November there is a potluck dinner meeting which replaces the regular monthly meeting; there is no December meeting because of the Christmas holidays. The monthly meetings are held at All Souls Unitarian Church at 730 North Tejon.; meeting time is at 7:30 PM. Each meeting consists of a program featuring either an informational talk, regional trips, or trips to exotic places. Non-members are welcome.
