BASIC MOUNTAINEERING SCHOOL

Basic Mountaineering School Curriculum

The BMS curriculum consists of five Monday evening lectures and six weekend field trips. The lectures will provide the knowledge base for the field trips.  The field trips are designed to provide "hands-on" experience in mountaineering navigation and route finding, basic techniques of technical rock, snow, and peak climbing.  Emphasis is placed on learning and practicing all of the applicable safety procedures.  All field trips are one-day events conducted on either Saturday or Sunday. Each class will go out on the same day for all of the field trips.
