For Colorado climbers, the nearest alpine experience with large glaciers and extensive snow climbing lies in the northern Wind River range of Wyoming in the vicinity of Gannett Peak. In a three week outing last August, fifteen CMC members climbed seventeen different peaks, some a few times and by different routes.

Members are urged to write their state representative regarding “Expansion of Rocky Mountain National Park” proposed by the Conservation Committee.

We’re happy to report that all participants in the grueling Gold Spittoon Cross-country ski race are believed to have by now reached the Brainard Hut, or wisely given up. The race was organized by the State Huts and Trails Committee.

The summer schedule includes: Black Forest joint horseback trip and hike (Class 1). Ride about six miles round trip or hike as you prefer.

How are they doing? Our tree-babies, of course. Tree planting makes one feel so noble! And darned if it hasn’t been fun! This is our third year on the same area, the Mammoth Burn between Rollinsville and Apex.

Located at Brainard Lake along the Buchanan Pass Trail is the Boulder Group’s mountain cabin, available to all CMC members. At present, there is no charge for use of the cabin, which accommodates twenty, for regularly scheduled CMC trips. At other times, the cabin is available to members at 25¢ a night and for non-members, 50¢.

Members of the Club who want to liven up their attire will do well to see the Secretary at the Club Rooms. She has samples and prices for making the best of wool and silk-and-wool socks and stockings of “Stocking Shop” quality made in Ward, Colorado. These are “home-made” stockings—the kind that outwear five pairs of the common kind.

The Fort Collins Group registration was up to eighteen members for their Annual Winter Outing. They left at 8:00 on Friday the 13th “in something or other of a moon,” which made it lucky. No car troubles; shank’s horses proved equal to the emergencies; sleep brought rest and “pep” to the skiers; things to eat were good and “always a-plenty.”

Pikes Peak Group reports their Easter breakfast in the Garden of the Gods proved attractive after the Annual Easter Service held there by the churches of ColoradoSprings.

A Mt. Yale climb scheduled by Pikes Peak and Denver Groups: Yale has never before been scheduled for a Mountain Club trip, and it is not climbed very often, being rather difficult of access. This will be a splendid climb.
