170 Wilderness Survival School

The Denver Group Wilderness Survival School is open to all CMC members regardless of their hiking classification or experience level. This school is designed to provide the level of skills and confidence to survive an unexpected stay in the wilderness. The topics covered include preventing a survival emergency, psychology/attitude, shelters, signaling, firecraft, and hypothermia. The course includes three evening lectures and an overnight field lesson which provides practical training/experience in a simulated survival situation. This course is particularly informative to the novice/intermediate hiker, but even very experienced CMC members have found this school valuable. The school is held yearly, usually in June. Watch the Denver Group newsletter, Mile High Mountaineer, for course announcement and registration information.
