Clark Peak, 13,580' - Trip Report |
Saturday-Sunday, July 17-18, 1999We backpacked up West Snowmass Creek to about 600' below Moon Lake. This involves crossing Snowmass Creek, one of the cruxes in this trip. The trail also features some very aggressive horseflies. For the peak climb, we followed the somewhat circuitous route described by Garratt and Martin. The route description is accurate about the slippery nature on the black lichen covered rocks when wet. We encountered light rain from time to time during the day. However, the two ridges one finds on this route should not be underestimated by climbing parties. There are a few 4th class spots. - John Raich. This report submitted by the author. Other Information
