Received July 18, 1997.

Jerry,
Paul, myself and two other friends of Paul's went climbing
yesterday, July 16. We climbed Thelma and Louise and Lemons, Limes and
Tangerines. After a couple hours we decided to pack up and go home.
Paul started to take apart the anchor on L.L.&T. which is a bolted 5.8.
Paul had backed up the two bolt hangers with two additional pieces of
pro. After removing his pieces he began to pull the rope. Much to his
suprise one of the bolt hangers completly pulled out and sailed down the
rope. Anyway, even though we had fallen many times during this toprope,
the bolt hanger did not come out until we were done. We figured because
we had backed up the piece, the weight was well distributed. Anyway, no
one got hurt and we all were reminded again never to rely on only fixed
pieces. Anyway, just thought we'd tell you this story in case you knew
how to pass it along to the CMC.
