BEGINNING FALL 2000
We are pleased to announce the creation of the Colorado Mountain
Clubs Natural History and Environmental Issues School. This September, we
will kick off our new school with three intensive courses focused on public
lands, water, biodiversity, growth, and recreation in the Southern Rocky
Mountains. The purpose of the school is to strengthen our members and
others understanding of Colorados natural history and to prepare
participants to work with others to address the critical environmental issues
facing our mountains and region.
Each course will:
- Present an overview of the key science and policies behind specific
issues.
- Bring a dynamic, thought-provoking expert in the field for a keynote
address.
- Reinforce participants knowledge of at least one environmental
issue through hand-on experience in the field.
- Educate participants about opportunities and means for influencing
decision-making at local, county, state, and national levels.
- Expose participants to the diversity of resources available for
further research and citizen involvement.
Course I: Water, Wildlife, and Wilderness in the Southern Rockies
Course II: Recreation in the Rockies: Enjoying and Protecting the High
Country
Course III: Managing Growth and Sprawl in the New West |
