160 Leadership Seminars

As our membership increases, more responsible, capable leaders are needed to guide the hundreds of CMC excursions into our beloved mountains.

To ensure that our trips will be pleasant and as safe as possible, the Denver Group has set certain requirements that must be met by all persons wishing to become trip leaders. They are:

1. current CMC membership.
2. a current Red Cross Standard First Aid card, or Mountain Oriented First Aid certificate from The CMC.
3. successful co-leadership of two CMC trips with approved leaders.
4. attendance at a leadership seminar. These are presented each spring and autumn.
5. For winter trips: attendance at a winter seminar or an Avalanche Course.

Leadership seminars are given semi-annually normally (an all-day seminar in the spring and a three-evening seminar in the fall). Further details will be given in the Mile High Mountaineer.

During the seminars the leader's manual is discussed, and lectures on relevant topics are given. Case problems are studied and solved by prospective leaders. Participation is welcome by all CMC groups. No advance sign-up is required.

Leader's manuals are available at no charge at the clubrooms. The seminars are free.
