Tuesday, January 11 Transcendent Summits - Golden

World-class mountaineer and famed Colorado's 14ers author Gerry Roach will talk about his new book Transcendent Summits. Autobiographical in nature, it examines his roots as a mountaineer during his youth and first decade of serious mountaineering. After the presentation, Gerry will answer questions and sign books.

Presented by the High Altitude Mountaineering Section of the Colorado Mountain Club. Free to the public. For more information contact the CMC at 303-279-3080.

Thursday, January 13 Rambles in the Canadian Rockies - Golden

Denver Group Adventure Program

Kevin Craig has been climbing in the Canadian Rockies and Interior Ranges of British Columbia every summer since getting "hooked" on them in a CMC HAMS Class in 2001. In that time, he's climbed some classic peaks and routes (Mt. Victoria, Grassi Ridge, Mt. Sir Donald, Mt. Athabasca, Mt. Austerity, and oth-ers) with a variety of partners and guides in all kinds of weather. This year, he was part of the first commercial group to visit and engage in summer mountaineering out of the private Battle Abbey hut in British Columbia. Come hear about his Canadian adventures, the characters he's met, and share in viewing some of the most beautiful mountain scenery anywhere. You may also learn some of the ins and outs of arranging your own mountaineering adventures. Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, January 19 Cho Oyu - Golden

Join Dan Blake as he presents a slide show of his successful climb of Cho Oyu in September 2004. At 8201 meters, Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world and is located at the frontier of Tibet and Nepal. While this is the bi-monthly Tech Section meeting, the presentation is open to everyone. Free.
