The Colorado Mountain Club will launch a new stewardship program in 1999 offering an array of volunteer opportunities. There will be trail crew opportunities through some of the local groups and through cooperative programs with other non-profit organizations such as the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative.
There will also be several opportunities to participate in mapping and inventory projects in western Colorado.
We are developing a crew of CMC interpreters to work in the American Mountaineering Center or elsewhere along the Front Range, teaching visitors about the natural history of the alpine environment.
Oversight of this conservation program will be the responsibility of Kathryn Crawford, who will be joining the CMC as the Conservation Programs Intern. If you have questions or an interest in participating in these programs, please call Kathryn or Heide Andersen at the state office. We look forward to working with many of you in giving back to those wild areas that are so important to all of us here in Colorado.
